Sara’s first grade art book

Making a special mini album filled with scans of your child’s artwork, accompanied by your personal record of joys and sorrows, makes a precious gift to your first grader. For easy scanning, refer to the tips in the instructions below and on our Web site. The construction of this album is simple: cardstock strips have been folded in half, layered on top of each other, and bound with ribbon thread through two small holes punched in the fold of each strip. Melissa added embellishments, a darling cover image, and a mini photo for a fancy finish.

Instructions

Step 1
Cut yellow 12" x 12" inch cardstock in half. Fold each half vertically, layer halves together and punch two holes along crease as shown. Thread ribbon through punched holes to bind mini book and knot as shown. Embellish ribbon with printed and reduced French Roman letters, the school memories image, and child’s photo as shown.
Step 2
Print yellow flowers background on cardstock, then ink edges. Trim to fit cover of mini book, and secure with adhesive and photo corners made from green cardstock. Print bunnies on white cardstock and ink edges. Print title on blue cardstock, adhere bunnies accent, and matte all on green cardstock as shown. Add threaded buttons.
Step 3
Scan child’s artwork, reduce to fit inside pages, and print. Ink edges and adhere on right side with photo corners. In word processing program, insert 4" x 4" text box and journal as desired, leaving 2 1/4" x 2 1/4" space for printed Vintage Workshop image as shown. Ink all edges, adhere accent, and secure panel with photo corners on left side.
